Jim and
Naomi's Wedding
Hello Ya'll,
We are Jim and Naomi Maurer, owners of MY
Victorian Bed and Breakfast . We live in the Heart of Downtown
Mobile Alabama in the Church Street East Historic District with
our St. Bernard, Rockwell and Louise our pug. We
have five beautiful suites, each unique, each with a luxurious
private bath with claw foot tubs. This magnificent painted lady
was commissioned in 1899 by then city tax collector Frank Petronovich as rental property. The house was designed by
architect James Hutchisson. Mr. Hutchisson is one of five
generations of architects that designed over three thousand
homes, buildings, churches, etc. including the Cathedral of the
Immaculate Conception in the Mobile area. Unfortunately there
are less than three hundred of these structures still standing
today.
We are truly blessed to have this house
entrusted to us. We found our home while we were in Mobile for
Mardi Gras 2005 and immediately fell in love, two days later it
was ours. We moved in on April 10, 2005 and opened on July 15,
2005. Three months of non-stop renovations. We hung close to
three hundred rolls of wall paper, sixty gallons of paint, all
while ducking three named hurricanes. We worked 12 – 14 hour
day’s non-stop, we were motivated. (Lots of money going out…
none coming in.) Once we opened the first two weeks were busy
and we were certain that we had made the right decision. Then
came August, as the heat began to rise, the phone stopped
ringing. We were both looking at each other saying which one of
us is getting a job. Then came August 29, 2005 and Hurricane
Katrina. For the next two and a half months we were home to two
Coast Guards, two Corp. of Engineers and an insurance adjuster.
Overnight we went from ghost town to boarding house. After a few
months things began to settle down and we began to get a feeling
of what inn keeping in Mobile would be like, busy when it’s
cold, slow when it’s hot.
We love working and living in downtown
Mobile. We have met so many great people. It is truly hard to
express what a vibrant and growing community that is developing
in downtown Mobile. The addition of the RSA tower has changed
the entire face of Mobile. New condos and businesses are opening
almost daily. We love it here so much we just opened another
business around the corner from the B and B on Government
Street. Victorian Lace Timeless Bridal Wear is located at 754
Government Street. Naomi has collected over 500 vintage and
vintage inspired wedding dresses and accessories dating from the
1920’s to 2002. Additionally I am a 2007 graduate from Faulkner
State’s Commercial Art and Computer Graphics Program and have
started an additional business. The Jimini Collection is a
Graphic Design company, unfortunately my two biggest customers
are MY Victorian Bed and Breakfast and Victorian Lace and the
lady that runs those places forces me to do all her work gratis.

advertisement, rack card, flyer or other small project give me a

your business needs. Check us out at www.myvictorianbandb.com
